A Day To Remember

May Day in the UK as we know it is traditionally held on the first Monday of the month, but this year things were a little different. This year the May Bank Holiday was moved to Friday 8th May to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day. This is only the second time in history that the early May bank holiday has been moved – the first was in 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of VE Day.

VE Day, also known as ‘Victory in Europe Day’ marks the day towards the end of World War Two when fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe came to an end. This day now gives us the opportunity to remember and honour the incredible sacrifices made during the Second World War.

Across Caswell Clinic wards patients and staff decided to get creative and make some special VE day decorations to remember one of the most significant events in our country’s history and celebrate the big 75th anniversary.
