Skills for Living

Skills for Living has been a popular group among our patient group for many years now. The group focuses on developing social skills, confidence, independence and the ability to cope with everyday challenges.

So far this year we have covered topics such as motivation, opinions and criticism, time planning, pressure and prioritising, non-verbal communication, comparing yourself to others, boredom, formal and informal language and abruptness.

Sessions usually involve a mindful warm up activity, a group discussion, practical activities to get creative juices flowing and a role-play scenario. Staff members usually perform the role-play scenario, so there is no pressure on you to join in but if you do want to participate, you are more than welcome to.
