Kath and Charis organised a Macmillan coffee morning in the café on 27th September. £238.60 was raised, including tea / coffee / cake sales, a collection organised by Wayne from Ogmore, and a ‘Movember’ challenge by Tim on Cardigan. An additional £15.00 in online donations went directly to Macmillan via the text-to-donate app.

Much of the baking was done by Kath and Charis with dairy-free and vegan options going down a treat! There were cupcakes, sponge cakes, a vegan chocolate cake and some homemade fudge. Amanda did some baking with the Penarth patients and made rice-crispie cakes. The occupational therapy team also ran a baking session on Penarth Ward and made vegan treats.

Other baking contributions came from Jan on Ogmore Ward who made a jam and coconut sponge and from housekeepers, Andrea provided a strawberry gateaux cake. Other staff also contributed by providing us with teabags, coffee and shop-bought cakes to sell. On the day we were helped massively by Nadine who helped with the set-up and kept the tea/coffee flowing.

The event ended having sold out of everything on the day and feedback was positive from everyone!
