Janette's Reflections
My role as an activity co-ordinator in Caswell Clinic has been one of the best jobs I have had. I started in the clinic 15 years ago as a healthcare assistant before moving over to this post in 2006, and in 2010 the Activity Coordinator department won best health care assistants award for the ABMU. I have been very privileged over the years to be a part of helping to create activities for all of our patients both internal and external, there is a long list of meaningful activities to get patients active and to help relieve the boredom and to socialize with other patients, we have had fete’s to raise money to get items for the café such as a TV, getting sky installed, and the projector and screen and lots more, through the years I have met lots of people through my job and it has always been a pleasure to see patients moving out of Caswell and rebuilding their lives which has made my job very satisfying. When patients do move on to new placements from the clinic, often we get thank you cards or even letters thanking us for all the hard work we have put into helping patients through the rehabilitation process, I would like to share a few sentences from a letter which we received, “thank you A/C’s for all your support and time which has helped to rehabilitate me by taking me places such as Porthcawl and bike riding, showing me normal things which I could achieve when I moved on. It has inspired me and made me a better person.”
I would like to take this opportunity in thanking both patients and staff which I have worked closely with over the last 15 years for making my time at Caswell Clinic both memorable and pleasurable.
