Caswell Clinic Gardens     wateringcans2Tilt

Garden-Iss31We have had a mixed success in the garden so far this year. The soft fruit are doing well and we already have a good crop of strawberries. All the new plants that we have put in the various borders are now establishing themselves and starting to flower. We have some white iris, red hot poker plants and some verbena, which are all looking good. The apples and pears have been pruned back hard and hopefully we will have a larger crop of apples like last year.

We have a few different varieties of potatoes, which are looking healthy. The group have sown pumpkins, courgettes, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. The tomatoes unfortunately died over one of the bank holiday weekends but we have sown a new batch of seeds which are just starting to come up. I can't talk about the garden without mentioning our furry friends. The rabbits are still around, but at the moment there seems to be an uneasy truce and only a few plants have been damaged. The idea of growing non rabbit friendly plants seems to be working.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the group so far and also anyone who has donated seeds or plants.

Richard.
