Resurrection of Woodwork at Caswell Clinic

I started in Caswell Clinic on May 14th and having taken over from Mike Williams, who had been in the job for 14 years; it was a big challenge ahead. The workshop had not been in use for quite some time and took several weeks to prepare for the first session on June 18th. With woodwork being so popular I had no problem getting people involved and arranging sessions.

Currently, we have several patients attending woodwork sessions who are working on a number of different projects, including CD racks, tables and shoe racks for their rooms, as well as bird tables for friends, family and staff. I am also working with one person on a blanket box which will hopefully be entered into next years Koestler Awards.

We are now making arrangements so that later his year it will be possible to achieve an Open College Qualification in Woodwork.

Working at Caswell over the last four months has been a great learning experience and very rewarding. I thoroughly enjoy being part of the OT team, and hope to remain so for many years to come.
